One word: fantastic! The hotel will impress you if you have a chance to reserve one room. The price you paid was worth every penny. The best part is the tea and coffee at the bar are handcrafted instead of the fancy nestle coffee machine. On the other hand, they magically maintain the 30 years room as new as they grand opening.

This small hotel was very comfy and I enjoyed their onsen water a lot! I wished I was there for more days. Both dinner and breakfast in Kaiseki style were tasty. This was the hotel who providing the best meals in my experience. This Kaiseiki style dinner was on point, all very healthy and impressive. The breakfast was good that I got another bowl of rice. Few small museums in the same area which you can visit too. If you want to visit Yufuin, there was also the complementary taxi available. Yufuin was beautiful, especially the misty lake at dawn.

The price looks expensive upfront, but it’s not all that expensive if you think about the quality of food, room and the care they provide. The attention to detail is terrific and I loved every minute I spent here.

Best ryokan in Kyushu. Compared with the latest visit 7years ago, facilities including ventilation have been astonishingly improved. The ryokan is located quite far from the main street of Yufuin, so it is not ideal for those who want to look around the town. This premise is recommended for those who want complete rest with exquisite food and artistic environment. Sansou Murata has several sister entities such as a soba house, a museum and cafe, all worthy of visiting. Beautiful place, mindful staffs. I want to visit again soon. #yufuin #ryokan #sansoumurata

Come here for egg roll but sold out. Try the big "巴非"which is too sweet for me. Milk is cold to go with coffee. I used to like it very much but now it can be better.

Peaceful and quiet. The Private, in suite, Hot Spring Bath Tub is rather small. Suite is very spacious and mordernized. Good food and service.

I stayed at two different top Ryokan in Yufuin during this trip. Murata is by far the best thing in town if not in Japan. The service was impeccable. Especially, the GM was most helpful. Dinner was perfectly prepared and paced in the room. Highly recommended.
